General Education Fund

Description

Empowering Children Through Access to Formal Education

The General Education Fund supports children and youth from economically disadvantaged backgrounds by providing scholarships to attend school (Primary and Secondary). This initiative is designed to address barriers to education, reduce child labor, and offer a path to future opportunities through formal learning.

Through this fund, we strive to:

  • Provide scholarships for children and young people to attend school.

  • Combat child labor by helping children transition from domestic or agricultural work to formal education.

  • Prepare youth for professional opportunities by establishing a foundation for lifelong learning and potential tertiary education support.

The program focuses on empowering students from marginalized communities and schools that Fundación Nahuel has previously supported, aiming to offer them a sustainable path to specialized and qualified careers

Fund Objectives

  • Primary Focus Area: Rural regions, specifically Pacto & Gualea, near Casa Nahuel and Colegio Pachijal.

  • Impact: Reducing child labor and giving children opportunities to move towards professional careers with the possibility of future support for tertiary education.

Education

in Ecuador

Education is a key tool in breaking the cycle of poverty, yet many children in Ecuador, especially in rural areas, remain excluded due to economic challenges and societal pressures. After the COVID-19 pandemic in 2022, Fundación Nahuel expanded its educational support to create a larger impact.

Initially focusing on individual schools, we now operate a broader fund that reaches more students annually. Our efforts have concentrated in Pacto & Gualea, where the Casa Nahuel and Colegio Pachijal are key partners, creating a nurturing ecosystem for rural education.

Despite our current efforts, the need remains significant in other schools and communities. Expanding the General Education Fund is critical to ensure that every child, regardless of their background, can access education and work towards a better future.
