Project Description:
Because it is strategically located to meet the needs of the children of 4 indigenous communities, this project will be carried out in the community of Chumillos at the Inti Pakari Intercultural Bilingual School.
The project consists of building a dining room, kitchen, toilets and a nursery so that the children have a comfortable, warm and dry place to eat, be properly cared for and be protected from the weather and diseases.
The “Healthy School” concept will be integrated into this infrastructure, which includes:
- health promotion,
- disease prevention,
- nutrition training,
- training in handling, preparation, management and conservation of foodstuffs,
- waste management and disposal,
- training of health and nutrition promoters,
- training in first aid and basic first aid kit handling, and
- school garden and raising of small animals for the consumption of school children and kindergarten.
The school is a single-teacher school and legally owns enough land to build the aforementioned constructions, the school garden and the corral for small animals that will provide the indispensable nutrients to cover the daily nutritional requirements of the children.
The 4 communities, especially Chumillos with all its grassroots organizations, the teacher and the community leaders, have committed local labor as a community counterpart for the construction.
Most of the men in the community have worked in construction as masons, which will favor the speed and quality of construction.
Project results:
