Project Description:

Construction and equipping of a library and a classroom at the “Jacinto Gordillo” elementary school in the Isabela canton, Galapagos Province.

The school is characterized by providing a holistic and bilingual education to 162 children and adolescents of the Isabela community. This project proposes to build a classroom and a library following the same style or scheme of the existing ones. The classrooms are designed with local materials and meet the basic standards and requirements of the students.

School authorities, teachers and parents have committed to provide permanent labor support through mingas (community work).

Project results:

The library will help prevent this problem by generating reading habits, making the most of free time and including children and young people in access to information and intellectual and cultural development.

This project offers training opportunities that will awaken and strengthen language skills and attitudes through reading, recreation, knowledge reinforcement and cognitive and cultural development.
